Lauren Nocera MSW, MPH (he/him/his)


Lauren Nocera is the founder of Expedition Consulting, LLC, a firm dedicated to driving equity and evidence based practice. Lauren is dedicated to driving equity and evidence-based practice through strategic consulting, training and technical assistance, and project management. With a blend of professional and academic experience, Lauren supports organizations of all sizes and budgets.  

Formerly an executive with Thundermist Health Center, Lauren pioneered initiatives like Rhode Island's first trauma-informed health center and widespread naloxone distribution, setting new standards for healthcare. In state government roles, including as the Rhode Island Opioid Settlement Manager, he shaped equitable policies and managed diverse funding streams. This laid the groundwork for him to be selected as one of the inaugural members of the Addiction Scholars program at Georgetown University Law Center’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law.

While affiliated with Georgetown, he developed the Equity Expectations Framework. This resource empowers governments and organizations to enact meaningful change, reflecting his commitment to scalable, accessible tools to create a more just society.

His academic background also includes a Master of Public Health from Boston University, a Master of Social Work from Rhode Island College, and a professional certificate from Cornell University in Diversity Equity, and Inclusion.

As a neurodiverse person, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and an individual in recovery Lauren’s lived experience and resilience infuses his work. Drawing from multiple evidence bases, including harm reduction, his holistic approach to equity drives tangible results.

Through Expedition Consulting, Lauren continues bridging policy, management, and community engagement toward a more inclusive future.
